Terribly Misguided Websites and
Sometimes.............No Website At ALL!
Here’s the Scoop………..
Flabbergasted might be a rather generous evaluation of my senses when I see some of the absurd websites I find locally!
.O......O........O........O.......O......Off my podium for a few moments now.
I have been analogized as behaving like a preacher when I’m passionate about an issue; hence the reference to “my podium”.
My husband and I moved here from Las Vegas four months ago to accommodate our desires for a slower and saner pace of life.
Moving away from my three children, who are grown, and my two grandchildren have been the most difficult adjustment, albeit they all have been here to visit us at least once a month.
I make my living online and could choose to live virtually anywhere. We chose the Coachella Valley because of it’s similarities to the Nevada desert (card carrying desert rat here) and the close proximity to my children and grandchildren. Martin is a photographer/artist, so the visual presentations are especially appealing to him and his work.
We find immense satisfaction with the beauty of the nighttime skyline and the quietness of nature, the small town atmosphere, the lack of gaming machines in every commercial establishment, as well as the lack of road rage.
Needless to say, I’m fairly pleased with our move and our new location, but I’m just mystified and peeved at the incongruous websites I experience while looking for local resources. I’m specifically miffed that many of the larger agencies with larger budgets are not paying attention to how they must expose their communities or businesses to the world. Don’t we want people from all over the world to visit our unique geography and contribute to our tourism economy??
Back up on my podium
Whether it’s the CVA, other local tourism attraction websites, many local independent businesses, or each city’s promo sites; why do so few seem to understand the value and importance of website SEO?????
I look at their backend code and just shudder! There is SO MUCH MORE about creating a respectable world wide presence!!
Martin and I were married in California during the short time legalized ceremonies were being performed.
As a married same sex couple, we are delighted to be residents of a state that recognizes our serious commitment, yet find the slower pace to be paralleled with the lack of many online resources. I realize that all larger city resources may not be found here, but with the utilization of the internet, we don’t have to feel like we’re living in the middle of nowhere.
I’m determined to change this dynamic.
After many discussions about my unhappiness with this aspect of our new lives here, my husband is admittedly exhausted at hearing me complain about my pet peeve. He suggested that I just write about it, like I do everything else…….Just get it off my chest………and hopefully encourage or perhaps even teach a few people some of what I know, some of what I know works about how to create high ranking, sophisticated, highly optimized websites that achieve a respectable world wide visibility. It worked for Las Vegas; it works for Las Vegas now. The rinse and repeat formula will work here just as well, if not better!
Why do so few understand the Monetary Value of website visibility?
WWW stands for World Wide Web!
We live here now, and I want the entire World to know what they can experience here, unlike any other community on the planet. But how in the world is anyone going to know about us or our businesses if we don’t allow anyone to find our websites?
Sure, you may have a website, but without SEO and Marketing, how will anyone find it?
Are any of our world’s prospective tourism customers or visitors likely to see it displayed only on our own locally viewed television commercial? Perhaps in our local newspapers?
Off my podium for the day
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is a key construct in presenting a sophisticated up to the minute interactive website with World Wide notice interest and appeal. There are many stipulations and rules to follow, you must constantly keep up with the latest search engine algorithms, and granted; it may not be the easiest thing for some people.
My intention is that in the following weeks I will blog post a beginning to end lesson in how to achieve a Highly Ranked, Properly Indexed, Sophisticated (non-static) Industry Compliant and Properly Optimized website.
Stay Tuned Up,
Dale
